         The most compelling advantage that the Philippines has, as an investment destination over any other Asian country is its workforce. With a literacy rate that is one of the highest in the region (94.6%), the Philippine workforce is highly educated, skilled and productive.

         Approximately 405,000 young men and women earn their college degrees annually. Of these, 110,000 are commerce/business related majors; 80,000 earn their diplomas in IT/Computer Sciences/Engineering and 35,000 Medical and Allied/ Natural Sciences courses.

        The Philippines is the third largest English-speaking country in the world. English is spoken and comprehended with ease by most Filipinos. This allows Filipino teams to complete training programs in record time and positive results; understand and relay written and verbal instructions easily; and communicate comfortably with expatriates.

         Fluency in English, now accepted international language of business, has spurred the growth of information technology-related businesses and business process outsourcing. The workforce that offers ICT skills include project managers, system analysts/ designers, application programmers, technical support specialists, and database/data communication specialists.
